A one week intensive training that teaches mind skills that can dramatically improve any students academic performance
Many students while sitting in class are either bored or even confused.
We have been led to believe that the way to academic success is to master rote learning. If you are naturally good or persist in this method of learning you succeed, if you do not you underperform.
And performing involves being able to reproduce memorized facts on one particular day, under stressful conditions in order to determine your prospects for further education.
However, the reality is that rote learning does not come naturally for most. Many find it boring and as a result they get bored by school and the learning process and they mentally disengage. This means that a lot of students never discover their true potential. This isn't fair!
"I struggle to learn by rote. I’ve had meltdowns on set. Which has been embarrassing and shameful"
The truth is that rote learning is not the only way to learn.
There is a way that fires up the imagination and fully engages the brain and makes learning easier, interesting and fun!
What if a student could be taught how to use their mind more efficiently so that they could not only double or triple the speed at which they learn - but could learn how to retain, remember and recall more information easily, quickly and effortlessly?
What if they could be taught how to use knowledge more intelligently and creatively?
What if they could be taught to successfully manage their mental health and their stress levels to successfully cope with the pressures of studying and exams – and perform at their best when they need to?
What if a student could be taught to study and prepare for exams more effectively?
And what if they could find this easy and enjoyable to do?
"Human Intelligence is richer and more dynamic than we have been led to believe by formal academic education"
The shocking truth is that for all the years we spend in full time education in this country, not one day is spent in learning how our minds work.
We are forever being taught the ‘what’ – geography, history, languages, math, and science – the subjects.
But we are never taught the ‘how’- how to actually get the information in to our brains in an effective way so that we can integrate it with what we already know and easily recall it and use it intelligently when we need it at a later date.
This is not the fault of the teachers. They have a syllabus to cover in a finite amount of time and we cannot expect this education system to change quickly, it's like a giant oil tanker that turns very, very slowly.
"Learning how to learn is life’s most important skill"
Our modern education system is a wondrous thing that provides an equal opportunity to avail of the same education as everyone else in the country.
In the most part we all learn the same syllabus, that is taught in the same way and everyone can access it, hundreds of thousands of students at any one time.
But this is where the problem lies. In order to do this everything becomes standardized and controlled, and learning by rote is the standard applied to all.
This one size, one speed, ‘one-style fits all’ approach is one of the greatest challenges that a student faces in secondary level education. It is an approach that allows only the very few to excel and it stops the majority of students from tapping into their natural phenomenal potential for learning and mental and academic performance.
"Education is not the learning of facts but the training of the mind"
Unleashing more of a student's mental capacity to learn and perform academically
Each one of us has the incredible innate ability to learn and perform academically but it does require that we are shown how to use our minds efficiently and effectively.
Our brains are the most complicated things in the known universe, yet they don’t come with a user manual. Some students have naturally and automatically learned how to use more of its incredible potential than others. These are the ones that excel in their academic lives while others get left behind. It is time to ensure that ‘no mind gets left behind’.
It’s time that we take responsibility for the mental skills of our children. It's time that we give them the opportunity that we were never given to make school, exams and learning easier and more enjoyable, to take the unnecessary stress and pressure out of learning and give them the skills to unleash more of their natural ability to learn and perform mentally.
The mind academy is being run by mind coach, accelerated learning expert and memory record holder Dave Russell.
The course aimed at secondary level students in either their junior cycle or senior cycle. It is designed to help any student dramatically improve their academic performance by teaching them how to unlock their natural potential for learning.
Participants will learn how to at least double or triple the reading speed as well as how mind map, which has been described as the Swiss Army knife for the brain. They will also learn powerful memory techniques which will allow them to remember retain and recall large amounts of information effortlessly and easily.
And most importantly they will be taught how to manage their mental health so that they can approach studying and exam time without stress and anxiety.
