Dear Anxiety Sufferer…
Whether you’re aware of it or not, there’s a major problem today surrounding anxiety treatments. And unfortunately you’re caught right in the middle of it… Today, the vast majority of anxiety treatments, medically-based and naturally-based alike, don’t work, because they are missing key pieces to the anxiety puzzle.
They are either promoting drugs that at best offer nothing more than a band-aid fix in an attempt to cover up the symptoms of the underlying problem or they are offering the latest fad in therapeutic approaches that might deliver short term relief but do not last leaving the sufferer more frustrated and anxious than before.
In fact, I’m going to share with you research that shows that most of anxiety sufferers treated with prescription medication by doctors today, show absolutely ZERO LONG-TERM IMPROVEMENT in their anxiety symptoms and their overall mental health (actually their symptoms got worse).
Sadly enough, even most therapeutic and counselling practices are just as bad and often times worse.
Not only do I know they don’t work based on medical research and clinical experience, but as a former anxiety sufferer, I know this because I’ve tried a lot of these treatments and experienced the frustrations myself. What I didn’t realize at the time was how many of these treatments were actually quite dangerous and causing more damage to my mental health.
But that was before I discovered the Neuroscience that changed my life forever, and that I will be sharing with you today.
The Truth Is…
CHANGE IS POSSIBLE!
I’m going to give you the POWER to put an end to your anxiety and suffering and literally change your life (I’ll explain how below).
I don’t care if you’ve tried everything under the sun and have lost all hope…
My name is Dave Russell.
I’m a Mind Coach, Hypnotherapist, Psychotherapist, Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and most importantly a former anxiety sufferer.
Years ago, after researching and dealing with my own mental health problems, I found my calling in life and started a private mind coaching practice where today I continue to consult with clients all across the world.
No matter how severe your anxiety may be, you can overcome it. Those who tell you differently simply use this excuse because they don’t have the answers.
It’s time you accept the reality that whatever you’ve been doing up to now is NOT WORKING.
It’s time you start thinking outside of the box and take a more Neuroscientific Approach to Anxiety. Not only has this worked for me, but I’ve walked countless clients through this same process with the same amazing results.
How I Encountered the Neuroscience behind this Approach
Since I started sharing my work online, it has grown rapidly reaching more and more people.
I take pride in empowering anxiety sufferers to take control of their own mental health instead of relying on a medication that continues to do nothing to improve the underlying cause of anxiety but creates a dependency and some uncomfortable side effects. It also ignores our natural ability to rewire our own brains so that we can eliminate anxiety from our lives once and for all.
And in case you were wondering… Over there to the left, that’s a picture of me and my daughter spending some quality time together at one of our local parks.
Life Wasn’t Always Fun and Games…
I spent many years searching for answers to my own mental health problems and it was a bumpy ride to say the least. I’m sure you can relate to some of the same painful experiences that I and many of my clients have experienced in the past.
"I was having regular panic attacks. These were stopping me from doing simple things like riding the bus home from work, taking the tram to the gym and skipping gigs and events because I would be in a full blown panic and floods of tears in the lead up to the event. None of it ever made any sense to me and was driving me mad. Things have gotten better day by day and continue to do so! Dave and his techniques for dealing with anxiety are magic. I am delighted I made that very first step"
"After just one month I’m feeling so much more positive ad happy. My family are noticing the change and our home is a better place to be. You gave me the confidence and tools to change and I am very grateful to you."
And the list goes on and on…
I Can Remember Checking Off Many of Those Boxes Too…
Ever since I was young, I’ve been fascinated by the workings of the human mind. I always considered myself to be mentally strong.
But when I started working in a stressful job, that’s when reality hit me.
While I did have a few minor symptoms of stress and anxiety that I ignored for a while, it wasn’t until I started putting in long hours at work that my mental health began taking a turn for the worse.
I developed insomnia and a negative internal voice. I became very self-critical, hypersensitive and I couldn’t switch off, which I didn’t know at the time were some of the classic signs of anxiety. You probably are not aware of this either, so I’ll explain more about this in just a second.
But then things quickly got worse. My energy levels were on the decline. I was finding it more and more difficult to switch off and fall asleep at night or get out of bed in the morning and every single morning it was like my mind would wake up 10 minutes before I did and was racing with anxious thoughts before I even opened my eyes. I was exhausted.
It became increasingly more difficult to function at work and perform to the best of my abilities.
Needless to say, it was affecting my career and professional life.
I would come home completely exhausted after work, but still I was unable to “switch off”, my mind would keep racing, thinking of all of the things that could go wrong, might go wrong, that conversation I had today, what I should have said, the mistakes I made and how I was messing up my life.
I didn’t want to socialise with friends, I was short tempered with family and in a permanent state of internal focus – I couldn’t get out of my own head and it was busy in there.
My life was becoming increasingly more stressful, or so I believed, and the stress and anxiety started getting the best of me. I constantly felt overwhelmed with life.
And I was constantly beating myself up, because I felt like I couldn’t be there for my family when they needed me… physically, emotionally, or otherwise.
I wasn’t able to be the person that I wanted to be and knew I could be. This wasn’t the way life was supposed to be lived.
I became so frustrated because on the outside I looked like I had everything I ever wanted; a great job, family, a home, money in the bank, but on the inside I was a mess of stress and anxiety. I couldn’t go on like this.
A change of job came along, thanks in part to my anxiety. You see my increasing paranoia made me lose faith in the company I was working for just months before it collapsed. I thought a new job might help the situation and it did for a while until the stress and anxiety came back with a bang.
That’s When I Said “Enough Is Enough”…
I started taking matters into my own hands.
Instead of just listening to what everyone was telling me, I started doing the research myself, looking for answers, learning everything that I could about stress and anxiety so I could reclaim my own mind.
I quit my job and…..
I studied psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, neuro-linguistic programming, I even trained as an empowerment and firewalking instructor, which teaches people to use the power of their minds to walk barefoot across burning hot coals and along the way I even set a national record for memorising the most digits of Pi. I read every book that I could find on the subjects of stress, chronic stress, anxiety and depression. I even learned to speed read so that I could consume more books faster, reading books on neuro-science, neuro-physiology, nutrition, eastern medicine. I spent literally thousands of hours researching and learning.
And the more I learned the more I realised how our lack of education of how our mind works causes most of our chronic stress and anxiety.
Considering the fact that I was covering the subject of anxiety from so many diverse angles, I had very high hopes for getting the answers I needed.
But even after implementing everything I learned, my anxiety didn't disappear…
It wasn’t long after that when learned about the different pathways which anxiety is created in the human mind. What I realised was that despite the scientific knowledge being readily available, none of the approaches to tackling anxiety attempted to shut down all the pathways.
Yes, while each of the medical, natural or therapeutic approaches had the ability to close down one of the pathways (and there are actually 3), they were leaving at least one if not two of the pathways open for the anxiety to return.
This was one of the most exciting breakthrough moments that I had ever had and it opened my eyes to a perspective of anxiety and mental health that I never knew existed.
Not only did it explain why everything I had tried earlier did NOT work, but it explained “WHY” it was actually making my anxiety worse. I hadn’t actually been stopping my anxiety like I thought I had, I was only shutting down one of the pathways and leaving the others open. Each time an attempt “failed”, because it left the other pathways open, I falsely believed that it was useless and I was unfix-able.
I studied this research for more than six months and began to find ways to incorporate it into my own everyday life.
I slowly started documenting this breakthrough and putting together the bits and pieces until I came up with the “Approach” that helped me put an end to my anxiety and changed my life forever.
It didn’t happen overnight, but over the course of the next few months, I watched as my symptoms began to steadily improve and I transformed back into the happy and healthy younger version of myself that I remembered from all those years back.
What I was experiencing was remarkable…
And that’s When Things Started to Get Really Interesting…
I started working with a couple of volunteers who were experiencing issues with anxiety, some of which were the same as my own.
I wasn’t surprised when it worked for them too, and they began experiencing the same benefits that I did.
But it wasn’t until I started sharing this approach to a wider audience that I realised just how big this was and that my life would never be the same.
It was at that point that I knew that I had discovered my calling in life.
Fast forward to today and now I’m consulting with anxiety sufferers all over the world as I mentioned earlier.
"At last I understood what my brain, my mind was doing ….. And I wasn't mad. I wasn't losing my marbles. Everything just fell into place, I knew why I had no appetite, why my arms and head were tingling. I am back in control. I feel relaxed and confident. I am prepared, I know what to do and if it gets on top of me. Thank you Dave for the knowledge and the benefit of your expertise."
"I had been having a difficult time in work and this helped me make sense of things and how to react in a more positive manner when dealing with stressful work scenarios. I found the exercises excellent and adopt the technique if I'm feeling in anyway anxious. I have and will continue to highly recommend Dave’s approach"
Speaking from personal experience, believing that your anxiety is just part of who you are or due to your stressful life is one of the biggest mistakes you can make. The longer you continue to just “learn to live” with your anxiety, the worse it becomes, the more it controls your life and the smaller your world becomes.
In fact, I made this very mistake myself and ignored my deteriorating mental health believing it was due to my circumstances and my personality. When I started taking action, I listened to my doctor and some of the most well respected mental health experts but the harder I tried, the worse my mental health became, because now not only was I anxious but I was stressed about the fact that nothing was working too!
The TRUTH was that so many things that I was led to believe would “work” for my anxiety were actually only part of the solution as they didn’t tackle all the pathways that anxiety is created in your brain.
If you only knew what you were up against…
Most Doctors Don’t Understand Anxiety and Find it Easier to Try and Treat it With Drugs!
In the last 5 years I have treated many doctors for chronic stress and anxiety and I am continuously shocked at how little they understanding about this mental health epidemic.
Most doctors have only about 10 minutes to examine, diagnose and treat their patients when YOU visit THEM.
And what’s the most common treatment for anxiety when you visit a doctor?
Prescription medication!
And this is where the craziness starts. Here is just a sample of the many side effects of the most popular anti-anxiety medications:
- Drowsiness
- Tiredness
- Dizziness
- Sleep problems (insomnia)
- Memory problems
- Poor balance or coordination
- Slurred speech
- Trouble concentrating
- Irritability
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Increased sweating
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Upset stomach
- Blurred vision
- Appetite or weight changes
- Swelling in your hands or feet
- Muscle weakness
- Dry mouth
- Stuffy nose
- Loss of interest in sex
- Headache
- Skin Irritations
Most of these are actually symptoms of anxiety that you were trying to avoid in the first place. In addition to this list, most anti-anxiety medications list depression and worsening of your anxiety as other potential side-effects.
And when the side-effects kick in most people are almost always told to wait it out as the side effects decrease with time. And when they don’t the doctors start to tweak their medication, increasing dosages or changing prescriptions.
Consider these research findings from Doctor Kelly Brogan’s book – A Mind of Your Own
Or what about the work of Jürgen Margraf and Silvia Schneider, both well-known psychologists at the University of Bochum in Germany, who claim that psychotropic drugs are no solution to mental health issues in an editorial for the 10 Nov 2016 issue of the journal EMBO Molecular Medicine. They argue that the effects of psychiatric drugs for depression, anxiety, and ‘ADHD’ are short-lived and may have negative long-term consequences.
Once you’ve been diagnosed by your doctor you will be prescribed anxiety drugs that fail to correct the underlying problems and can oftentimes make your anxiety worse.
Even many “natural” therapies and practices including counselling for anxiety, DO NOT WORK!
A lot of people turn to natural therapies and practices looking for a solution to anxiety. There are literally hundreds of different therapies and practices out there, all claiming to be the answer that you’ve been looking for.
But the experience paints a very different picture.
In reality, many of the natural therapies and practices only shut down one of the pathways and leaves the others open and you don’t even realize it. This means that you don’t recognise or acknowledge the benefits that you may be getting from them and as a result you stop. So now you are not only not getting the benefit from the therapy or practice but you have probably crossed it off your list as – been there, done that – it didn’t work.
This usually further compounds your stress and anxiety as now yet another potential solution has not worked for you and you are beginning to further believe that this is just the way you are.
The truth is that there is NO “magic pill” or “magic powder” that is going to solve your problem.
Hopefully, you’re beginning to understand the significance of shutting down all 3 of the anxiety pathways and how it negatively affects your mental health if you do not. Simply ignoring anxiety or playing it off as something that “you have to learn to live with” is a serious mistake that can have severe long term mental health consequences.
The ONLY Way to Overcome Anxiety Is to Shut Down the 3 Pathways…
What you have to understand is that there’s a lot more involved in your mental health than simply the quality of your conscious thoughts and internal dialogue. Focusing solely on changing this is one of the fastest paths to failure.
There’s an entire subconscious pathway that is triggered without our knowledge and that needs to be properly addressed if you ever want to win the battle with anxiety.
And there is also an internal bio-feedback pathway that triggers anxiety and this third pathway must also be shut down in order to eliminate anxiety from your life once and for all.
If you don’t address all 3 pathways then it’s like being in a boat on the water with 3 holes in the bottom. No matter what you do, if you don't plug all 3 holes you’ll never be able to stay afloat. The same goes for your anxiety. It doesn’t matter how much yoga, meditation, mindfulness, CBT you do, if all 3 of your anxiety pathway aren’t shut down then you’ll never be able to find that inner peace and your mental health will continue to suffer.
It’s important to understand that the ONLY way to overcome anxiety and take back your life is to permanently plug each and every hole in your boat or else your boat will simply continue to sink and you’ll get nowhere.
This is why most therapies, practices and treatments today fail, because they focus all of their attention on one pathway while completely ignoring all the rest. Or worse yet, they try close down one only to further open another one or two. Then you end up even more anxious than when you started.
The only way to truly overcome anxiety is to close down all the 3 pathways that are causing your anxiety and preventing you from living a happier, more peaceful anxiety free life.
Re-establishing control over your own mind and body by shutting down the 3 pathways effectively and efficiently is absolutely key.
But there are many problems, many self-induced, that prevent this from happening and perpetuate anxiety itself.
You are familiar with all of the mental and physiological symptoms that indicate that you are having an anxiety or panic attacks and they are uncomfortable.
And they are scary!
What can be scarier than feeling like you are not in control of your own mind or body?
There may be some situations where you can understand why you are feeling anxious or panicked but sometimes it feels like it just starts happening without any rational explanation. You have no idea what has triggered it. You may even feel that you have no reason to be feeling anxious but that doesn’t seem to matter anxiety strikes anyway.
If you don’t know why your mind and body are acting this way, you don’t know what has triggered it then this results in an increase level of stress which makes you more anxious than you were when you started.
If this is you, I know how you feel. That is the exact same situation that I found myself in.
The truth is that despite the fact that you probably spent a minimum of 12 to 14 years in full time education, little if any of that time was ever spent teaching you how to look after your own mental health.
So not only has no one ever explained to you why your body has become chronically stressed, anxious or panicky and what all of the mental and physiological symptoms mean, but you were never shown how to stop these anxiety attacks when they start.
In order to stop your anxiety once it starts you need to learn certain skills, strategies and techniques. And depending on which pathway that anxiety is being created in your mind, you will need to use a different set of skills, strategies or techniques.
You need to learn which of the pathways is being activated and build your awareness so that you can identify it as soon as it begins, before it is allowed to grow.
If you can do this you will have a set of tools that will allow you to physiologically rewire your brain so that whatever specific trigger is causing your anxiety no longer has the power to induce anxiety in you.
This is when you can start to take personal responsibility for your own mental health and eliminate your reliance on medication, therapists or counselors.
But this is just the tip of the iceberg because there are so many other way that you are pushing yourself further and further into anxiety.
A lot of people that come to see me personally say that they didn’t come sooner because they knew that they were stressed and anxious because of any number of the following:
Whether you realize it or not, stress and anxiety are learned behaviours. Your body and mind has learned how to become stressed and anxious. It has learned this so well that it can become the default state that they exist in.
Having consistently and repeatedly activating a stressed and anxious state the body and mind has memorised its activation, so that it happens subconsciously and automatically.
As you live in this state more often and never consciously learn to switch it off you are destined to remain in an anxious state. After a prolonged period living with the side-effects of anxiety, these can mistakenly be viewed as part of “who you are”.
This can stop you from taking the necessary action to eliminate your anxiety.
Let’s face it, life is too short to let anxiety hold you back from living the life you’ve always wanted, full of energy, health, motivation, fun, and pure enjoyment. You just have to make the decision that you’re no longer going to settle for a poor quality of life. You just have to be willing to stand up and take your mental health into your hands.
You deserve better, and you know it. But you need a plan. You need a road map that can show you the way to your destination.
That’s why I’m here. I want to guide you through the most amazing transformation that you could ever have imagined. It’s already happened for so many of others just like you. Just read the success stories on this page and see for yourself.
